The Adelene N.T. Gaw Young Professional’s Award was introduced in 2024 to honour the legacy of Adelene Gaw (1981–2023). Adelene was past Chair of the International Liaison Committee and is remembered for her dedication to service and her commitment to advancing education in radiation safety in Canada and internationally.
The award is presented to a young professional who has demonstrated exemplary service within the Association. Eligible nominees must:
Originally named the Founders’ Award and first presented to CRPA’s founding president, Richard Osborne (1936-2014), in 1989, the Richard V. Osborne Founders’ Award recognizes those who have made significant contributions to the advancement of the Association.

The Raymond G. Ilson Leadership Award was introduced in 2016 to honour the memory of CRPA Founders’ Award recipient and past president, Raymond Ilson (1947-2015).

First presented in 2000, the Meritorious Service Award recognizes significant contributions to either the Association or the radiation protection profession in general.

First introduced in 1988, the Distinguished Achievement Award is presented for outstanding contributions in the field of radiation protection.

Honorary Members are individuals who have been approved by the Membership as persons worthy of a lifetime membership in the Association. Honorary Members pay no membership dues and are afforded the same privileges and voting rights as a Full member.
Eligible nominees must have been a Full member for at least 10 consecutive years.
Nominations are motioned for approval by voting members at the Annual General Meeting.
At least two current Full members of the Association must nominate a given individual for an Award or Honorary Membership. Award nominations are subject to approval by the Board of Directors.
Excluding nominations for Honorary Membership, nominees may receive only one award per year. If an individual is nominated for more than one award, the Board will determine which nomination is most appropriate.
Award winners are announced at the Annual Banquet and Awards Ceremony at the CRPA conference, or as determined by the Board of Directors.
SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION
A short biographical resume of the candidate’s career and reasons why the candidate is being nominated must be provided. Reports, references etc., should be submitted as supporting material for the candidate’s nomination in line with the objectives of the award.
